Many women wonder whether Zetia^® (ezetimibe) can cause sexual problems. In clinical studies of Zetia before it was approved, there were no reports of any sexual side effects (including orgasm problems in women). Also, since Zetia has been approved, there have no reports of sexual side effects.

 

This does not mean that it is impossible for Zetia to cause orgasm problems in a particular person. However, it means that Zetia is unlikely to be the cause of sexual dysfunction. Sexual problems are often complex, involving other medical, psychological, and relationship problems. It is difficult to say if normal sexual function would return after stopping Zetia, since it is unlikely that Zetia was the cause of the problem. However, for many cases of sexual dysfunction caused by a medication, stopping the medication often causes a return to normal sexual function (unless physical damage has been done).
