More Information on Vytorin Interactions
The following paragraphs explain in detail how certain drugs can interact negatively with
Vytorin.
Cyclosporine
Taking cyclosporine and Vytorin together may cause your body to metabolize the medicines differently than intended. This can cause significant reactions, including increasing the risk for developing serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress more closely and make necessary dosing adjustments. Your
Vytorin dosage should not exceed 10/10 mg a day.
Danazol
Taking danazol and Vytorin together may cause your body to metabolize the drugs differently than intended. This can cause significant reactions, including increasing the risk for developing serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. In this case, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress more closely and make necessary dosing adjustments. Your dosage of Vytorin should not exceed 10/10 mg a day.
Warfarin
If you are taking both Vytorin and warfarin, your body may metabolize them differently than intended. When starting Vytorin therapy and/or changing the Vytorin dosage, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your INR more closely and make any necessary adjustments.
Gemfibrozil
If you are taking both Vytorin and
gemfibrozil, your body may metabolize the drugs differently than intended. This can cause significant reactions, including increasing the risk for developing serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. To decrease this risk, your dosage of Vytorin should not exceed 10/10 mg a day.
Other Fibrates
If you are taking Vytorin and fibrates together, your body may metabolize them differently than intended. This can cause significant reactions, including increasing the risk for developing serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis, or problems with the gallbladder (such as gallstones).
