General Vytorin Dosage Information

Some considerations for people taking Vytorin include:
 
  • Your Vytorin medication should be taken in the evening.
     
  • Your Vytorin dosage may be taken with or without food.
     
  • To maintain even levels of the drug in your body, make sure to take Vytorin at the same time each day.
     
  • Do not break, chew, or crush the Vytorin tablets.
     
  • If you are taking a bile acid sequestrant, make sure to take your Vytorin more than two hours before or more than four hours after. Bile acid sequestrants include:
o Cholestyramine (Prevalite®, Questran®, Questran Light®, LoCholest®)
  • For Vytorin to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. Vytorin will not work if you stop taking it.
     
  • Remember that lowering cholesterol begins with lifestyle changes (weight loss, low cholesterol diet, exercise). If lifestyle changes do not lower cholesterol to a desirable level, cholesterol medication, such as Vytorin, may be necessary. However, even for people who are taking cholesterol medication, lifestyle changes are still important for maintaining a good cholesterol level.
     
  • If you are unsure about anything related to Vytorin or your Vytorin dosage, talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking Vytorin without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.
