Statins and Pregnancy

Final Thoughts

If you are pregnant or are thinking about becoming pregnant, let your healthcare provider know. He or she will consider the benefits and risks of taking a statin during pregnancy before making a recommendation in your particular situation. It is almost certain that your healthcare provider will recommend that you not take this drug during pregnancy. Women who plan to become pregnant are often advised to stop taking their statin drug for a few months prior to attempting to get pregnant.
