Simcor® (niacin extended-release/simvastatin) is a medication often prescribed for the treatment of unhealthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It contains simvastatin and extended-release niacin, drugs that can help increase "good" cholesterol and decrease "bad" cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides. The medication comes in tablet form and should be taken once a day, at bedtime with a low-fat snack. Some of the side effects that have been reported with this medicine include itching, flushing, diarrhea, and back pain.
