Other Cholesterol Medicines as Alternatives to Simcor

Many types of cholesterol medicines are available. Besides statins, the three other major classes of cholesterol medications are:
 
There are also combination medicines containing simvastatin, such as Juvisync®, Simcor®, and Vytorin®, that are available.
 
The type of medicine that your healthcare provider recommends for lowering cholesterol will be based on many things, like your cholesterol levels (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides), heart disease risk factors, and other medical conditions. Each of these types of cholesterol medicines work a little differently, so depending on your situation, these possible alternatives to Simcor may or may not be right for you.
