Prevalite Uses: One Aspect of Treatment for High Cholesterol

Treatment for lowering cholesterol typically begins with lifestyle modifications. This includes a diet low in cholesterol (see Low Cholesterol Diet) and saturated fats, limited alcohol use, weight loss, and exercise. If lifestyle changes alone do not lower cholesterol levels to a desirable level, certain medications, such as Prevalite, may be necessary.
 
Since Prevalite can lower both total and LDL cholesterol levels, a person can decrease his or her risk of developing certain health problems in the future.
 

Prevalite Uses in Children

Prevalite uses in children include the treatment of itching caused by a partial biliary obstruction. Prevalite has not been approved for use in children with high cholesterol.
 

Off-Label Prevalite Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Prevalite for treating something other than the conditions discussed above. This is called an "off-label" use. Off-label Prevalite uses include the treatment of severe diarrhea in people who have had their gallbladder removed.
