For lowering cholesterol, the type of medicine that your doctor recommends will be based on many things, like your cholesterol levels (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides), heart disease risk factors, and other medical conditions you may have. Each type of medicine works a little differently, so depending on your situation, these possible alternatives for Pravachol may or may not make sense for you.
