Generic Pravachol

In April 2006, generic Pravachol was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The generic versions are manufactured by a number of companies, including Teva Pharmaceuticals and Watson Pharmaceuticals. The tablets are available in four different strengths: 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg, and 80 mg.

In April 2006, the patent for Pravachol expired. Also in April of 2006, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a generic version of the medication. Generic Pravachol is sold under the name Pravastatin tablets.
