Niaspan? Nispan is a common misspelling of Niaspan.
Niaspan® (niacin extended-release) is a medication that can be used in combination with diet and exercise to treat high cholesterol and high triglycerides. By increasing the activity of an enzyme that breaks down triglyceride-rich particles and increases their removal from the body, the drug can increase HDL ("good cholesterol") and decrease total cholesterol, LDL ("bad cholesterol"), and triglycerides. Niaspan comes in tablet form and is available by prescription only. Before using Niaspan, talk to your healthcare provider if you have gout, diabetes, or liver disease.
