Vytorin® (ezetimibe/simvastatin) is a medication often used for the treatment of high cholesterol and high triglycerides. It is a combination product that contains a cholesterol absorption inhibitor and a statin. Clinical studies have shown Vytorin to be effective in increasing HDL ("good cholesterol") and decreasing LDL ("bad cholesterol"), triglycerides, and total cholesterol. Vytorin, which is available by prescription only, comes in tablet form and is generally taken once daily. Side effects of the medicine may include headache, muscle pain, and increased liver enzymes.
