Lovaza® (omega-3-acid ethyl esters) is a medication licensed for the treatment of very high triglycerides. It is a fish oil product that contains two omega-3 fatty acids that help decrease the liver's production of triglycerides. Lovaza, which is available by prescription only, comes in capsule form and is typically taken once or twice a day. You should talk to your healthcare provider before taking this medicine if you have diabetes, an underactive thyroid, or kidney disease.
