Lovaza Drug Interactions

When anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs are taken together with Lovaza, drug interactions could occur. These interactions may increase the risk of bleeding, including dangerous internal bleeding. In order to help prevent drug interactions with Lovaza, it is important to tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking before starting treatment.

An Overview of Lovaza Interactions

Lovaza® (omega-3-acid ethyl esters) can potentially interact with a number of other medications. Specifically, Lovaza can interact with medications that "thin" the blood (anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs), such as:

    • Alteplase (Activase®)
    • Reteplase (Retavase®)
    • Streptokinase (Streptase®)
    • Tenecteplase (TNKase®)
