Lovastatin 10 mg Tablets

Lovastatin is a prescription drug used for treating high cholesterol. It is sold under the brand name Mevacor® but is also available as a generic called Lovastatin tablets ("lovastatin").

The medication is available in three different strengths, including:

  • Lovastatin 10 mg
  • Lovastatin 20 mg
  • Lovastatin 40 mg.

Although the recommended starting dosage for most people with high cholesterol is lovastatin 20 mg once a day, some people may require a lower dosage.

The recommended starting dosage for children (ages 10 to 17) with high cholesterol is lovastatin 10 mg to 20 mg once a day. If your child does not reach his or her cholesterol goal on the starting lovastatin dose, your child's healthcare provider may choose to increase the dosage.
