 Lovastatin? Lovastain is a common misspelling of lovastatin.
 
Lovastatin (Mevacor®) is a prescription medicine licensed for the treatment of high cholesterol. It is also approved to prevent heart disease. Lovastatin tablets are generic and available in four different strengths. While most people tolerate the medication well, potential side effects include muscle pain, headaches, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Before taking lovastatin, you should talk to your healthcare provider if you have any allergies, are pregnant, or drink alcohol frequently.
