Lovastatin Extended-Release: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should consult with your healthcare provider prior to taking lovastatin extended-release if you have:

Heart disease
Liver disease or liver failure
Kidney disease or kidney failure
Diabetes
Family history of high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia)
Had a heart attack or stroke
Hypothyroidism
Seizures
Any allergies.

Let your healthcare provider know if you are:

Pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant (see Altoprev and Pregnancy)
Breastfeeding
About to undergo a procedure or surgery
Drinking alcohol frequently.

Also, tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
