Livalo Tablets

A healthcare provider may prescribe Livalo® (pitavastatin) to treat high cholesterol. Although there is only one form of this medication, there are three strengths available.

Available in the form of 1-mg, 2-mg, and 4-mg tablets, Livalo works by blocking a certain enzyme responsible for producing cholesterol in the body. As a result, this medication can help reduce "bad" cholesterol levels, increase "good" cholesterol levels, and lower triglycerides.

Although most people tolerate this medication well, Livalo is not suitable for everyone. Possible side effects of the medication include muscle pain, constipation, and diarrhea. Also, you may not be able to safely use this medicine if you have problems with your liver or kidneys.
