Livalo Drug Interactions

Livalo Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative reactions that can occur when Livalo is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Colchicine
Combining colchicine with Livalo may increase the risk for serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis (see Livalo and Muscle Pain). Do not combine these medications without first talking to your healthcare provider. If you do take these medications together, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience any muscle pain or weakness.

Certain Antibiotics
Some antibiotics may increase the level of Livalo in your blood, increasing your risk for muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis (see Livalo and Muscle Pain). Other antibiotics (such as rifampin) can produce unpredictable results, sometimes increasing or decreasing the level of Livalo in the blood. The maximum recommended Livalo dose is 2 mg a day for people who also take rifampin. Talk to your healthcare provider before combining these medications.

Cyclosporine
Taking cyclosporine and Livalo together may significantly increase the level of Livalo in your blood. This may increase your risk for serious Livalo side effects, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis (see Livalo and Muscle Pain). These medications should not be used together.

Daptomycin
Taking daptomycin with Livalo may increase your risk for serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. If you take these medications together, your healthcare provider may need to monitor you closely for muscle problems.
