An Introduction to Lipofen Side Effects
As with any medicine, side effects are possible with
Lipofen® (
fenofibrate). However, not everyone who takes the drug will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate this medicine quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor, meaning they either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects of Lipofen
Lipofen has been thoroughly studied in clinical trials.
In these studies, side effects were documented and compared to problems that occurred in a similar group of people taking other
cholesterol medications.
Based on these studies, the most common side effects seen with Lipofen included:
- Abnormal liver function tests (routine blood tests) -- in up to 7.5 percent of people
- Respiratory problems (the exact problems were not specified) -- up to 6.2 percent
- Abdominal pain (stomach pain) -- in up to 4.6 percent
- Back pain -- up to 3.4 percent
- Headaches -- up to 3.2 percent.
