Pregnancy and Lipofen: Suggestions
Lipofen can be used to treat either
high cholesterol or
high triglycerides. The
effects of high cholesterol do not cause problems for many years, or even decades. Therefore, it should be expected that if a woman does not take
cholesterol medicine during pregnancy, it will have little impact on any long-term risks. However, the effects of very high
triglycerides can cause immediate problems, and you may need to be treated for very high triglycerides during pregnancy (even if the medication poses some risk to the fetus).
For women who are thinking of becoming pregnant and are taking Lipofen, please make sure that you talk to your healthcare provider.
