Although most people do not experience any problems while taking
Lipitor® (
atorvastatin calcium), adverse side effects are still possible. In most cases, if side effects do occur, they tend to be minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider. In fact, research studies have shown that less than 2 percent of people who were using Lipitor stopped taking the drug because of side effects.
However, there are some adverse Lipitor effects that require immediate medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness (especially if accompanied by a fever or feeling of illness).
