Lipitor 80 mg

Lipitor® (atorvastatin calcium) is a prescription medicine licensed to treat high cholesterol and high triglycerides. It can also be used for the prevention of cardiovascular disease.
Of the four different strengths available, Lipitor 80 mg is the strongest strength. The other strengths are 10 mg, 20 mg, and 40 mg.
Most adults will typically start with a low Lipitor dosage, such as 10 mg or 20 mg once daily. If your cholesterol goal is not reached after several weeks, your healthcare provider may increase your dose as needed. Most people usually end up taking an average daily dose of 20 mg to 40 mg.
The maximum dose for children ages 10 to 17 is Lipitor 20 mg once a day.
Although muscle pain is a common side effect of the medication, clinical studies show that it was the least common in people taking Lipitor 80 mg.
