Lipitor® (atorvastatin calcium) is a type of statin medication approved to treat several conditions, including high cholesterol and high triglycerides. This prescription medication is also approved to prevent heart and blood vessel disease. Lipitor comes in tablet form and is taken once a day. It may not be suitable for everyone, so let your healthcare provider know of any medical conditions you have or any medications you are taking (including vitamins and supplements). Potential side effects of Lipitor may include headaches, diarrhea, and muscle pain.
