When and How to Take Lescol

Some general considerations for those taking Lescol include the following:
 
  • Lescol comes in a capsule. Lescol XL comes in a tablet.
 
  • The medication should be taken with the evening meal or right before bedtime. If you are taking two doses per day, the other dose can be taken in the morning.
 
  • To maintain even levels of the medicine in your body, make sure to take your Lescol dose at the same time each day.
 
  • Lescol can be taken with or without food.
 
  • Swallow the capsule or tablet whole with a drink of water. Do not break, chew, or crush the capsules or tablets.
 
  • For Lescol to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. The medication will not work if you stop taking it.
 
  • Do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
 

Dietary Instructions

There are no dietary restrictions for people taking Lescol. As with any cholesterol medication, you should continue to eat a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet as part of your treatment program to lower cholesterol.
 

Dosing Information for Lescol

The dose of Lescol your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:
 
  • Your age
  • The medical condition being treated
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you may be currently taking.
     
As is always the case, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
