Lescol Dosing for Children
The recommended starting dosage of
Lescol for children ages 10 to 16 with
high cholesterol is Lescol 20 mg once a day. If your child does not reach his or her
cholesterol goal on the starting dose, your healthcare provider may choose to increase it. The dosage can also be decreased if
Lescol side effects occur. The maximum daily dosage for children is Lescol 80 mg.
General Information on Dosing With Lescol
Some considerations for people taking Lescol include the following:
- Your Lescol dose should be taken with the evening meal or right before bedtime. If you are taking two doses per day, the other dose can be taken in the morning.
- To maintain even levels of Lescol in your body, make sure to take your dose at the same time each day.
- The medication can be taken with or without food.
- Lescol comes in a capsule. Lescol XL comes in a tablet. Do not break, chew, crush, or open the capsules or tablets.
- For the medication to work properly, you have to take it as prescribed. Lescol will not work if you stop taking it.
- If you are unsure about anything related to dosing with Lescol, please talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking the drug without discussing it with your healthcare provider.
