Juvisync Drug Interactions

Nefazodone
Combining nefazodone with Juvisync increases the risk for serious muscle problems. In general, these medications should not be taken together.

Niacin
Both niacin and Juvisync alone can increase the chances of developing serious muscle problems. Therefore, it is thought that combining these medicines may cause an even greater risk.

If you are taking both of these products, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress closely and make necessary dosing adjustments. This is particularly important for people of Chinese descent, as studies have suggested that Chinese people may be at a higher risk for problems when combining niacin and simvastatin.

Other Diabetes Medications
Juvisync contains sitagliptin, a diabetes medication. Combining different diabetes medications, although often necessary and beneficial, can sometimes increase the risk for low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia). Discuss this risk with your healthcare provider.

Protease Inhibitors
Combining a protease inhibitor with Juvisync increases the risk for serious muscle problems. In general, these medications should not be taken together.

Ranolazine
Combining ranolazine with Juvisync may increase the risk for serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. If you are taking these medicines together, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress closely and make necessary dosing adjustments. Your dosage of Juvisync should not exceed 100/20 mg daily.

Telaprevir
Taking both telaprevir and Juvisync together may increase the risk for developing serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. This combination is not recommended.

Verapamil
Taking both verapamil and Juvisync may cause your body to metabolize the medicines differently than intended. This can cause significant reactions. Among other things, it can increase the risk for developing serious muscle problems like myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress closely and make necessary dosing adjustments. Your Juvisync dosage should not exceed 100/10 mg daily.
