Colestid Drug Interactions

Tetracycline
Colestid may bind with tetracycline in the intestines, preventing the drug from getting completely absorbed into the body. Take tetracycline at least one hour before or four to six hours after you take your Colestid to avoid this interaction.
 
Furosemide
Colestid may bind with furosemide in the intestines, preventing it from getting completely absorbed into the body. Propranolol can be taken at least one hour before or four to six hours after you take your Colestid to avoid this interaction.
 
Penicillin G
Colestid may bind with penicillin G in the intestines, preventing the drug from getting completely absorbed into the body. It is recommended that you take penicillin G at least one hour before or four to six hours after you take your Colestid.
 
Thiazide Diuretics
Colestid may bind with thiazide diuretics in the intestines, preventing them from getting completely absorbed into the body. You take a thiazide diuretic at least one hour before or four to six hours after you take your Colestid to avoid this interaction.
 
Gemfibrozil
Colestid may bind with gemfibrozil in the intestines, preventing the drug from getting completely absorbed into the body. It is recommended that you take gemfibrozil at least one hour before or four to six hours after you take Colestid to avoid this interaction.
 
Digoxin
Colestid may bind with digoxin in the intestines, preventing it from getting completely absorbed into the body. It is recommended that you take digoxin at least one hour before or four to six hours after you take Colestid to avoid this. Also, if you are taking digoxin, it is important that you do not stop taking Colestid without first consulting your healthcare provider. Doing so can cause toxic levels of digoxin to accumulate in the body.
