Examples of food that lowers cholesterol include the following:
- Oatmeal
- Oat bran
- Apples
- Pears
- Prunes
- Raspberries
- Kidney beans
- Brussels sprouts
- Baked beans
- Lentils.
Margarines and a number of other products are being fortified with cholesterol lowering plant stenols or sterols, including Benecol® and Take Control®.
