While food that lowers cholesterol has obvious benefits, it's only one part of a heart-healthy diet. This diet is low in saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol, and includes just enough calories to maintain a healthy weight. If a heart-healthy diet does not lower cholesterol enough, your healthcare provider may recommend increasing your soluble fiber intake, adding other cholesterol lowering food products to your diet, or both.
