Improving "Good" Cholesterol: Good Levels for HDL
While an ideal
cholesterol level for
HDL is above 40 mg/dL, the higher the numbers, the better your health. HDL levels above 60 mg/dL are thought to protect against
heart disease.
Triglycerides are a form of fat carried through the bloodstream. Most of your body's fat is in the form of triglycerides stored in fat tissue. Only a small portion is found in the bloodstream.
Ideal levels for triglycerides are less than 150 mg/dL.
