Foods That Lower Cholesterol
Foods that lower cholesterol include those containing plant sterols, plant stanols, or soluble fiber -- such as kidney beans, prunes, and pears. Foods that lower cholesterol can also be fortified with plant sterols or stanols to help block absorption of dietary cholesterol. Foods containing soy protein were once thought to be foods that lower cholesterol. Recent research, however, has shown this not to be the case.

While not considered foods that lower cholesterol, there are a number of foods that do reduce the chances of developing
heart disease.
