Foods That Lower Cholesterol: Final Thoughts

In order to keep your LDL cholesterol and your risk for heart disease low, you should start following a heart-healthy diet, which is a diet low in saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol, and includes just enough calories to maintain a healthy weight. If a heart-healthy diet does not decrease cholesterol levels enough, your doctor may recommend increasing the soluble fiber in your diet and/or adding other cholesterol-lowering food products to your eating plan.
