The medicine comes in many different strengths, varying by the content of both the
amlodipine component and the
atorvastatin component. For example, there are four options for Caduet 10 mg tablets:
- Caduet 10/10 mg
- Caduet 10/20 mg
- Caduet 10/40 mg
- Caduet 10/80 mg.
The first number in the strength refers to the amlodipine component, while the second number refers to the atorvastatin component.
The recommended dose of amlodipine ranges from 2.5 mg to 10 mg a day, and the recommended dose of atorvastatin ranges from 10 mg to 80 mg a day. The dosage your healthcare provider will recommend depends on several factors, including what you are being treated for and how you respond to the medication.
If you have not been previously taking amlodipine or atorvastatin, you will probably be started on a low dose (such as Caduet 2.5 mg tablets rather than Caduet 10 mg tablets).
