Other Cholesterol Medicines as Altoprev Alternatives

There are many types of cholesterol medicines available. Besides statins, the four other major classes of cholesterol medications are:

Combination medications that contain two different cholesterol medications are also available (Vytorin^®, Advicor^®, Simcor^®).

For lowering cholesterol, the type of medicine your doctor recommends will be based on many things, like your cholesterol levels (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides), heart disease risk factors, and other medical conditions.
