Advicor and Tumors

The niacin component of Advicor has not been associated with cancer or tumors. However, the lovastatin component has been shown to increase the risk of several different types of tumors or cancer in laboratory animals. However, statin medications (like lovastatin) have not been linked to cancer in humans; in fact, several researchers believe that statins might actually help prevent cancer.
  

Final Thoughts

You may experience some or none of the side effects listed in this article. There is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have side effects from a medicine that you have never tried.
 
Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any Advicor side effects. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you develop something that "just does not seem right." While it may not be a side effect, your healthcare provider will be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
