Cyclosporine
Taking
cyclosporine and
Advicor together may increase the risk for developing serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress more closely and make necessary dosing adjustments.
Fibrates
Combining a fibrate with Advicor increases the risk of serious muscle problems. This combination should be avoided unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks of the drug interaction.
Danazol
Taking both danazol and Advicor together may increase the risk for developing serious muscle problems, such as myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your progress more closely and make necessary dosing adjustments.
Grapefruit
People taking Advicor should not drink grapefruit juice, eat grapefruit, or use grapefruit supplements because it can increase the levels of Advicor in the blood. This can increase the chances for developing a serious muscle problem (myopathy or rhabdomyolysis), which can cause the kidneys to stop working.
Nefazodone
Combining
nefazodone with Advicor increases the risk of serious muscle problems. In general, these medications should not be taken together.
Nitrates
Combining Advicor with a nitrate medication may increase the risk of low
blood pressure (hypotension). Be sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any signs of this problem, such as lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together, especially if you have recently had a
heart attack or if you have
unstable angina (a certain type of chest pain).
